About

One operator. Aviation precision.

JANTECH is one person — John — with a truck full of professional refrigerant equipment. The same diagnostic discipline aviation requires, brought to your location.

Full mobile A/C kit, no shop drop-off, no waiting.

Hi, I'm John — I run JANTECH Mobile Services out of Vernon, BC.

Trained to aviation tolerances over 31 years — I spent that career as a Transport Canada M1/M2 licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, type-endorsed on the Boeing 737-200 through 900, Bombardier Dash-8, Raytheon B200, and Fokker F27, among others. The same diagnostic discipline aviation requires is what I bring to your location. In that career I held positions as Lead Base AME and Base Supervisor at carriers including Air North, Summit Air, and during Air Transat and Sunwing 737 NG operations out of Kelowna. I also served a contract as an instructor teaching UAE government students turbine engine theory at Nova Scotia Community College.

In aviation, there's no such thing as “close enough.” Every procedure is documented, every measurement is verified, and every system is signed off to a standard that doesn't bend. That culture stays with you.

I started JANTECH because I kept seeing the same problem: vehicles leaving shops with freshly replaced A/C compressors that were going to fail again in a year or two. Not because the mechanic used bad parts — but because nobody properly evacuated the system after opening it. Moisture gets in. Moisture turns oil acidic. Acid destroys compressors from the inside. It's a slow, invisible failure that the customer doesn't see coming until they're already writing another cheque.

The proper final step — nitrogen pressure test, deep vacuum evacuation measured in microns, vacuum decay hold test, refrigerant charged by weight — isn't complicated. It just requires the right equipment and the discipline to do it the same way every single time. Most general shops don't own a micron gauge and don't run a nitrogen pressure check before charging. I do both on every job.

I service cars, trucks, RVs, ATVs, equipment, and pleasure craft — anything with an A/C or refrigerant system. I come to you — home, shop, farm, or remote site — and I'm generator-equipped for locations without power.

If you've just had A/C work done, or you're trying to figure out why your system isn't right, give me a call. I'll tell you straight what you're looking at.

Why It Matters

A Cheap Recharge Now Can Cost You a New Compressor Later

Anyone can spray refrigerant into your A/C from a can. But if there's any moisture in the system — and there almost always is after a repair — that moisture turns the oil acidic and quietly destroys your compressor from the inside.

I've seen brand-new compressors fail in under two years because somebody skipped the vacuum step. The A/C blows cold for a summer, then it's gone — and the bill is in the thousands.

I do it the right way every time: pressure-test the system with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum to remove moisture, then add the exact amount of refrigerant the manufacturer calls for — measured by weight, not guessed.

This is what bad oil looks like

Healthy A/C oil is clear. Brown oil = moisture damage = compressor on its way out.

Credentials & Certifications

The qualifications that back every job we do.

Transport Canada M1/M2

Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Licensed AME for M1 category aircraft — spanning 31+ years. Type-endorsed on Boeing 737-200/300/400/500/600/700/800/900, Bombardier Dash-8-100/200/300, Raytheon B200, and Fokker F27. The precision, documentation standards, and quality assurance culture of commercial aviation is the baseline for every job.

Transport Canada Radio Operators Licence holder.

HRAI SCDD Certified

Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada

In Canada, it is illegal to purchase or handle refrigerants without this certification. HRAI's ODP/ODS program ensures certified technicians handle refrigerants responsibly, prevent illegal venting, and comply with federal regulations.

Legally required for all refrigerant handling in Canada.

HRAI SCDD Certified

EFI University — EFI-101

Aftermarket Electronic Fuel Injection Tuning

Certified in aftermarket EFI tuning — covering modern engine management systems, sensor diagnostics, and fuel injection calibration. Combined with hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics, this means JANTECH brings more than just A/C knowledge to the job.

Modern automotive diagnostic systems and electronics.

The Equipment Behind the Service

Professional results require professional tools. Every piece of equipment used by JANTECH is chosen for accuracy and reliability — not cost.

Fieldpiece SMAN Manifold + Micron Gauge
Digital manifold that measures system pressures and vacuum level simultaneously. The built-in micron gauge eliminates guesswork — we see the exact vacuum level in real time.
Fieldpiece Vacuum and Recovery Machines
Pull a deep vacuum to remove moisture and non-condensables, and recover refrigerant compliantly before any service that requires opening the system.
Digital Refrigerant Scales
Refrigerant is charged by weight to the gram. No sight glass, no pressure guessing — the manufacturer spec is followed precisely.
Electronic Refrigerant Leak Detector
Sensitive electronic detector confirms the system is leak-free before and after charging.
Oil Condition Tester
A specialized tool that allows oil condition testing on an operating system without opening it — checking for moisture contamination and early compressor failure.
Generator (Remote Sites)
Full generator capability means we can service vehicles at locations with no grid power — farms, remote properties, and job sites.
